One Rainbow was created for a Photoshop class to demonstrate masking and combining multiple images. A close look at the original images at the bottom left, offers insight into the perspective of the window frame, colorization of the background images, and the detail in the kitten's fur and whiskers. The detail in the masking and lighting were very complex.
This piece was created in Adobe Photoshop using masks, overlays, and a lot of layers to combine several images into one artifact. The negative space, sharp contrast in colors, the small features, and the angel’s hair all create an attractive wall hanging. There is an upward movement in the wings and reads left to right. The kitten and snake are meant to be hidden and shadows were added using the brush tool. This was one of my first pieces and I have learned a lot during the creation process.
Photo restoration is extremely satisfying work, and as you can see this image was very damaged. This was a one of my first Photoshop assignments, and I certainly would do things a bit different at the end of the graphic design program than I did in this class. I have learned a lot about removing flaws from photographs and while this image was extremely time consuming, I can restore images quickly today. I have been able to use the techniques I learned in this class to expand book covers from soft bound to hard cover.
